Wow, missed this one.
It's amazing that major things that some of us might actually care about slip right under our noses because the govt and media are so preoccupied with the war, scandal, and the upcoming 2008 elections. Needless to say this little bill passed right under the radar courtesy of the administration.

Expansion of Mountain Top Mining
For the quick review: New bill passed loosening regulations and expanding provisions for mountain top mining which entails blasting the top off a mountain, dredging the coal up and out, then dumping all the tailings into the streams and valleys nearby. (Apparently a common practice in the Appalachia).

Just a thought: maybe we should stop destroying what little wilderness, or even just open space and vegetation that we have left.
