My anwswer is H: "Health care reform is increasingly THE most important social issue facing our nation, and therefore, by default, the general public doesn't care because we are too busy watching fake health care on tv (Grey's Anatomy) and trying to figure out who's Anna Nicole Smith's baby's daddy."

Some facts (from reality):

1) 45 million Americans do not have access to health insurance.

2) Nearly twenty percent of uninsured Americans — 8.4 million individuals — are children.

3) Every 30 seconds, an American files for bankruptcy after having a health problem.

4) The U.S. spends a greater portion of gross domestic product on health care than any other industrialized country in the world but is the ONLY industrialized nation that does not have a unified national health care plan.

But, that's just my guess.

Derek, I don't know you, but I would consider nominating you for public office.

Ian, WHY did you remove the post? You know I would have read that baby twice. Sometimes I put things on my blog solely for myself because I really think they're important. (However, I agree with Cam: let's get some more posts and pictures going...)

dude, i missed the post so i can't comment specifically after it. in any case, i did have a few thoughts to share if i may! if health care reform is something you're passionate about and mulling over, putting your thoughts into words is

--(and this is obvious) a good way to gauge and develop and refine your own opinions,

and putting it in a nifty and free public place, like a blog,

--allows your devoted readers and fanship :) the opportunity to consider said thoughts for themselves, and begin engaging in a dialogue. like who is anna nicole's baby's daddy. or not.

and dialogue, among minds and hearts that seek to listen to one another, can be good and illuminating, and can lead to fruitful change.

it's apparent that people, with varying experiences and minds of their own (ie i like my brussel sprouts braised, my roommate likes them raw), won't likely always agree politically or otherwise--we'll have our own takes--but i'm all for hearing what you have to say.

i, for one, know very little about health care in general, and would probably benefit from making myself more educated about the system, what works, what doesn't. it affects me as a living person in America.

bottom line: i like the blog. yep. the pics, the wit, the telling of tales, the thoughts--funny or sober or reflective or exuberant--,the life living, all of it. it's yours and cam's experiences and i like sharing it.

love, jo

p.s. happy bless-ed birthday btw!! talk soon.

The Comptroller General of the General Accounting Office (the nation's head bean counter) says that by 2030 , health care entitlements will be the single biggest item in the budget, bigger than Defense. That if we don't enact health care reform, and soon, we could bankrupt the country.

And you thought global climate change was big.

The new pix are nice anyway.
